Everyone we meet is a teacher.
Some teach with joy,
And some by example.
Some teach with words,
And some through action.
Some, sadly, teach through pain.
Some people trick us,
Lie to us,
Stab us,
And leave us bleeding.
They drop in and out of our lives,
Pulling our strings,
And pushing our buttons,
Liked acid rain on our souls.
They drain our energy,
And divert our attention.
They occupy our minds,
And make us curse the moment we met.
But through that pain they teach us:
To find meaning in suffering,
And peace in disappointment,
That a dawn follows every night.
They force us to examine our lives,
And question our choices.
They make us investigate who we really are,
And why we let them in our lives.
They trigger a search:
For the hammer to shatter our world,
And the glue to reassemble.
For ideas that fracture our minds,
And lead to deeper understanding.
For seeds that flourish in our soil,
And a vision for our garden.
Let those who treat you the worst bring out your best.
Let them become your teachers of pain.
Let them guide you on your path,
To the well of your true strength,
And the depth of feelings long forgotten.
Then accept their most important teaching:
To let them go.
To leave behind,
The teachings of pain,
But keep what wisdom was gained.
Treasure your scars,
They were not in vain.
